Blithewold Homeschool Days

Jan 27, 2026 - May 26, 2026 101 Ferry Road Bristol, RI 02809

Join us on the last Tuesday of each month, March through May, for hands-on, fun, and educational programs at Blithewold! Each session explores science, history, and art through indoor and outdoor activities designed to spark curiosity and learning. Our curriculum aligns with RI, MA, and CT state standards, making it both engaging and educational.

Activities include:
Jan 27: Learning about Herbs & Botany Games
Feb 24: Butler & Maid Tour
Mar 31: Phenology – The timing of nature’s cycles
Apr 28: How to Measure & Calculate the Value of Trees
May 26: Letterboxing Workshop

Students drop off for the program (ages 8–13), with one adult chaperone required to remain on the property for security. Don’t forget to bring lunch, water, and weather-appropriate clothing—we spend lots of time outdoors! Adult chaperones and younger siblings are welcome to picnic on the Grounds during lunch.

Between lessons, there’s time to explore the Great Lawn, run around, or enjoy a relaxing picnic, making each session a full day of learning and fun!

Blithewold Homeschool Days

Join Blithewold for a fun and educational hands-on learning series designed for curious kids ages 8–13. Each monthly session explores engaging topics across science, history, art, horticulture, environmental science, and climate change, with a mix of indoor and outdoor activities. Programs align with RI, MA, and CT state education standards, making learning both enriching and playful.

Between sessions, students can enjoy a picnic or burn off energy on the Great Lawn—a perfect blend of learning and fresh air.

Program Details:
  • 👧 Ages: 8–13 (drop-off program)
  • 👨‍👩‍👧 Adult chaperone must remain on the property
  • 📍 Check-in: Visitor Center
  • 🥪 Lunch: 11:30 AM – 12:00 PM (bring lunch & refillable water bottle)
  • 🌤️ Dress for the weather; activities often take place outdoors
  • 🧺 Adult chaperones and younger siblings are welcome to picnic on the grounds

The Newport Beer Festival returns to the iconic Fort Adams State Park for an afternoon of tastings from 50+ hand-selected breweries and beverage producers from across New England and beyond. Sip your way through craft beers, ciders, seltzers, and more, paired with delicious food and interactive exhibitor experiences—all set against stunning waterfront views.

New for 2026, participating breweries will be grouped into themed activations, so you and your crew can choose your own tasting adventure. Breweries, vendors, and sponsors will be announced leading up to the event—so check back for updates and surprises.

The Narcissi: Daffodil Tour

Join Director of Horticulture Dan Christina for a guided walking tour through the spectacular Narcissus (daffodil) collection at the peak of Daffodil Days.

Explore 100+ varieties featured in the accredited American Daffodil Society Display Garden, including rare and unusual cultivars and species. Learn about planting strategies for both woodland and garden settings, and discover the unique growing characteristics that make each variety distinct.

This immersive outdoor experience offers a closer look at one of the season’s most vibrant floral displays.
