Ten Mile River Greenway

East Providence, Pawtucket, RI Phone: 401-222-2450

Length: 2.5 miles

One of Rhode Island’s newer bike paths, the Ten Mile River Greenway extends from Kimberly Ann Rock Athletic Fields in East Providence to Slater Memorial Park in Pawtucket. The name is misleading, as the trail is only 2.5 miles, but it’s scenic enough to make up for its brevity. One of only a few such paths that was not constructed on an old rail line, this bike trail includes lots of dynamic twists, turns, and inclines. Parking is available at Slater Park on Newport Avenue in Pawtucket, or at Kimberly Ann Rock Athletic Fields on Ferris Avenue in East Providence.

Washington Secondary Bike Paths

Cranston, West Warwick, Warwick, RI

Length: 10 miles

This series of paths is technically disconnected but if one doesn’t mind slightly rough terrain in between, the path can be ridden for 10 straight miles. The longest stretch, through Cranston, is 5.5 miles, with 3 miles in West Warwick, and 1.5 miles in Warwick. The path runs along a former rail right of way and passes heavily populated areas, with great views of mills, the Pawtuxet River, and easy access to many commerical areas. Many segments have thick woods despite proximity to high development. See website for access points.
