Newport Irish History Month & St. Patrick's Day Parade - Newport, RI

February 28 -- Irish Quiz Night. Competing teams from local Irish organizations will answer questions about all things relating to Ireland and the Irish, including the Irish around the world. Hibernian Hall, 2 Wellington Avenue, Newport, 6:30 p.m. Email: lehane3@verizon.net
March 1 -- Green Eggs & Ham Breakfast Benefit for the St. Patrick’s Day Parade. Hibernian Hall, 2 Wellington Avenue, Newport. 9 a.m.-1 p.m. Buffet style. Tickets: $10. Family prices are available. An Irish sing-a-long will start at 1 p.m.
March 1 -- Dancing at the Forty Steps. Live traditional music, demonstration of traditional Irish set dancing. AOH Men's singer. Forty Steps is on the Cliff Walk, at the east end of Narragansett Avenue, Newport. 2 p.m. (Weather permitting.)
March 7 -- Bus Tour of Irish Newport. Sites of Irish interest include: Forty Steps, Ochre Court, Barney St. Space is limited, reservations required. Leaves from Hibernian Hall, 2 Wellington Avenue, Newport at 10 a.m. Bus returns at noon. 401-841-5493

March 14 -- St. Patrick’s Day Parade. From City Hall on Broadway, via Washington Square, Thames Street, and Carroll Avenue to St.Augustin's Church. The parade steps off at 11 a.m. AOH Pipes and Drums will appear in this parade. Parade will be held rain or shine.

Fired & Inspired: Ceramics at Rough Point Exhibit - Newport, RI

This exhibit examines the diverse ceramic collection Doris Duke amassed. In addition, Rough Point has commissioned new works by six artists inspired by the estate's collections, history and spaces, providing a fresh new context for experiencing the museum and the existing ceeramics collection. Participating artists include Warren Mather (Weston, MA), Kathy King (Boston, MA), Marc Cooper (Boston, MA), Marco Vargas (Mexico), Judit Kollo (London, England) and Zhu Yang (Jingdezhen, China). The exhibit is open through the mansion’s 2015 season, ending fall 2015.
