Drawing Wild Classes

Drawing Wild classes allow you to study and draw details of feathers, beaks and claws from a collection of taxidermied specimens. Instructor Kathy Hodge will explain anatomy and offer demonstrations and help. Each class will break for a bring-your-own lunch and critique at noon. Bring supplies of your choice. All skill levels are welcome, high school age and up.

Gaspee Days Arts & Crafts Festival 2018

May 26, 2018 - May 28, 2018 Narragansett Parkway Warwick, RI

This is part of annual Gaspee Days, remembering Rhode IUsland Colonists who torched the British tax vessel Gaspee (boo-o-o-) in 1772. But this fest is a day of shopping, eating, music, and friends in a historic old neighborhood on a pretty bay. Pawtuxet Park is filled with live music and children’s amusements and games available in the park as well. Live music: Saturday, Rob Davis Band; Sunday, Zink Alloy & Mother Bogart, Monday, TBD. What Cheer Day: Life After the Gaspee Affair

The British customs schooner Gaspee was burned by Colonists in Narragansett Bay in 1772. Then what happened? At What Cheer Day Rhode Island, costumed historical interpreters discuss the events that led to the HMS Gaspee’s grounding and destruction, and what came afterward. Reenactors portray John Brown, James Sabin, Gov. Joseph Wanton, and Gaspee commander William Dudingston. Visitors can learn about daily life in 1772 through a market scenario.

WaterFire 2018

WaterFire centers around a series of nearly 100 bonfires that blaze just above the surface of the three rivers that pass through the middle of downtown Providence. The string of fires illuminates nearly two-thirds of a mile of urban public spaces and parks, as residents and visitors gather to stroll along the river, listening to music and watching performances.
