Fired & Inspired: Ceramics at Rough Point Exhibit - Newport, RI

This exhibit examines the diverse ceramic collection Doris Duke amassed. In addition, Rough Point has commissioned new works by six artists inspired by the estate's collections, history and spaces, providing a fresh new context for experiencing the museum and the existing ceeramics collection. Participating artists include Warren Mather (Weston, MA), Kathy King (Boston, MA), Marc Cooper (Boston, MA), Marco Vargas (Mexico), Judit Kollo (London, England) and Zhu Yang (Jingdezhen, China). The exhibit is open through the mansion’s 2015 season, ending fall 2015.

Bike Blues and the Blackstone - Woonsocket, RI

Join the the Blackstone Heritage Corridor for a festive bike ride through scenic Blackstone River Valley. Finish your afternoon at a live blues concert by Pendragon while you taste regional beers at the Blackstone River Theatre. This year cyclists may ride the entire 30-mile course as part of the Craft Brewery Tour and visit Bucket Brewery, Foolproof Brewing Company, and Ravenous Brewing Company. Or you may choose a leisurely ride along the historic Blackstone Canal on the 11-mile Blackstone River Bikeway. At the end of your ride, enjoy refreshments, beer, and live blues by Pendragon and Ken Lyon and Bertrand Laurence.
Rides depart at 2:30 p.m. from the Woonsocket, and end at a Taste of Regional Breweries at the Blackstone River Theatre, 549 Broad Street, Cumberland, from 4 to 8 p.m.
