The inaugural Doors Open Rhode Island Festival will provide free access on self-guided tours to more than 20 interesting places in Providence. Among the places open to visitors are Barnaby's Castle; Box Office, one of the largest shipping container buildings in the country; upper floors of the Providence Arcade, the oldest indoor shopping mall in the country ; the vault of Hudson Furs; the recording studio of Rhode Island Public Radio; the giant green dome above Beneficent Congregational Church.

Beavertail Lighthouse Tower Climb - Jamestown, RI

Bring your family to wander the grounds, climb the lighthouse tower, and visit the museum. Climbers to the tower must be at least four feet tall. In addition to the 49 steps of the spiral staircase, a 7-foot ladder requiring both hands must be scaled to reach the observation catwalk. Neither small children nor pets may be carried. Openings are weather dependent; if uncertain, call 401-423-3270.
Lighthouse Tower opening dates are June 17; July 2, 15 and 29; August 12 and 26; September 9 and 23.
