WaterFire 2016 - Providence, RI

All full WaterFire installations light up over eighty braziers from Waterplace Park to Memorial/South Main Street Park. Partial lightings usually include all of the braziers from Providence Place Mall to Steeple Street. Lighting occurs shortly after sunset and the event continues until half past midnight. Food vendors will be located on Washington, College and Steeple Streets.

The festival will showcase a wide array of Sci-Fi and Fantasy cinema; the annual H.P. Lovecraft Walking Tour; after-school KidsEye Programs; a Date-Night of Horror with a costume competition; and two forums that look behind-the-scenes at creating genre films in the Ocean State. Most films are intended for mature audiences. Unless otherwise noted, children under 14 will not be admitted without an adult. Parental discretion is advised. Over the course of the evening, guests will be invited to engage in interactive and mysterious, live performances that combine to create a suspenseful literary expedition through the Library’s historic Renaissance and 1950s structures. Through the puppetry of TEN31 Productions, the story is presented with a mesmerizing combination of living art installations, theatrical and dance performances. The event will culminate with desserts and dancing.

Then sample some tasty dishes that are prepared using a variety of cultivated “wild” mushrooms. Please note that collecting mushrooms on Audubon property is prohibited.\
