Antiques

2016 Newport Antiques Show - Middletown, RI

The Newport Antiques Show is one of the nation’s premier antiques venues presenting a wide selection of important Americana antiques: paintings, furniture, folk art, jewelry, and fine and decorative arts. General admission tickets can be purchased at the door or online. The Gala Preview Party will take place Thursday July 21, 2016.
Time: Friday and Saturday, 10 a.m.-6 p.m.; Sunday 10 a.m.-4 p.m.
Admission: $15 per person per day; $20 for three-day admission

WaterFire 2016 - Providence, RI

All full WaterFire installations light up over eighty braziers from Waterplace Park to Memorial/South Main Street Park. Partial lightings usually include all of the braziers from Providence Place Mall to Steeple Street. Lighting occurs shortly after sunset and the event continues until half past midnight. Food vendors will be located on Washington, College and Steeple Streets.

Save The Bay Center will hold its annual meeting and environmental awards ceremony, followed by Taste of the Bay fundraising event. Taste of The Bay is a festive sunset celebration of the flavors, sights and sounds of Narragansett Bay. Guests enjoy food and beverages from local restaurants, shell fishermen, bakeries, breweries, and wineries on the edge of upper Narragansett Bay, with live music by Bob Tomassone. The fundraiser also features raffle gift baskets and gift cards by local food trucks, restaurants, entertainment, and businesses. A shuttle will transport guests from the Johnson and Wales University parking lot to the Bay Center.

Exhibit -- Waterscapes: Islamic Architecture and Art from Doris Duke's Shangri La - Newport, RI

Waterscapes: Islamic Architecture and Art from Doris Duke's Shangri La is on view at Rough Point, the Doris Duke home, this season. Duke's love of the water and Islamic art and architecture came together spectacularly at Shangri La, her exotic ocean front estate in Honolulu. The Waterscapes exhibit explores the theme of water through objects and photographs of the property and other historic sites that inspired its many fountains, pools, and cascades. The exhibit is on display through November 6, 2016.

PVDFest 2016 - Providence, RI

Live music, dance, food, and visual art installations in the center of Providence. Artists from across the globe join with the Ocean State’s finest for a free outdoor party. Schedule will be posted on the website starting May 23.
Performers include the Afro-Cuban All Stars; three 18-foot tall “dinosaurs” by Close-Act Theatre; Lakou Mizik playing Haitian music with Vodou chants, Carnevale rhythms, gospel ballads, and folk songs; Ghanaian reggae artist activist Rocky Dawuni; Old School Italian music by Newpoli; Red Baraat, performing Indian bhangra music; and the music of Puerto Rico by Plena Libre.
The festival starts at noon on June 4. An opening procession happens at dusk on Empire and Washington streets and ends up at the main Kennedy Plaza stage for the opening ceremony.

The Chorus of Westerly Summer Pops Concert - Westerly, RI

Bird Walk with Patty O'Neill - Newport, RI
