Burnside Music Series + Beer Garden

Every Thursday during July and August, Burnside Park in the heart of Providence will be transformed into a restaurant, family outing, evening date, or patio bar. Each week a different food truck will be parked along Washington Street. Buy dinner and make a night of it. This is a free all ages, family friendly event. Everyone is welcome; must be 21 or older to drink. These events are sprinkle or shine, but may be canceled or postponed due to extreme weather or heavy rain. Musical, food, and fun presenters:
August 23 -- Jesus Andujar y Grupo Sazon. Blend of merengue, salsa, Latin jazz, and bachata. Food truck: GottaQ SmokeHouse BBQ.

Folk Art Quilt Show 2018 at South County Museum

The three day event features varied and high-quality quilt work by local artisans, and quilt-related programs daily. White glove ambassadors will be present to help the public examine the quilts up close and to answer questions. This year the theme will be "UFOs" or "Unfinished Objects" in the Museum’s collection.

Block Island Fishing Academy for kids

Block Island Fishing Academy takes kids ages 6 to 15 for 4-hour lessons in all things fishing—gear, knots and rigging, casting, reeling ‘em in, and catch and release. And should someone be lucky enough to land a keeper, they’ll even demonstrate how to filet a fish for cooking. Each junior angler will get plenty of individual attention. Sessions are Sundays, Wednesdays and Fridays; make reservations early.

End of Summer Celebration with Bwana Iguana

Blackstone Valley Explorer Riverboat Tours 2018

Take a relaxing and informative riverboat tour on The Explorer and discover Providence Harbor, and the Seekonk and Pawtucket rivers. Pass through the Fox Point hurricane barrier and catch great views of the Providence skyline. The tours travel further upriver toward Pawtucket, with views of a changing landscape and eastern shore birds.
Dock locations are Al’s Waterfront Restaurant, 28 Water Street, East Providence, from July 1 to August 5;
Festival Pier, 100 Tim Healey Way, Pawtucket, from August 12 to September 9;
Cold Spring Park, 101 Katherine Rd., Woonsocket, from September 16 to October 21.
Online tickets sales are available until the evening before each trip. Day-of ticket sales are available at the dock.

WaterFire 2018

WaterFire centers around a series of nearly 100 bonfires that blaze just above the surface of the three rivers that pass through the middle of downtown Providence. The string of fires illuminates nearly two-thirds of a mile of urban public spaces and parks, as residents and visitors gather to stroll along the river, listening to music and watching performances.

Twilight Walk & Night Sky Viewing at Hodge Preserve

The Hodge Preserve is a 25-acre field that slopes to Middle Pond and West Beach. Naturalist Kim Gaffett will lead walks through the meadow and teach guests about Block Island’s environment and eco-systems, followed by a break for stargazing at the night sky. Bring a flashlight, insect repellent, and blanket or beach chair and meet in the Preserve’s small parking lot along Corn Neck Road. Night sky viewing dates: June 30, August 3, and August 24.
