H.P. Lovecraft Walking Tour – Providence RI

Tour H.P. Lovecraft’s Providence as part of the Vortex Sci-fi, Fantasy, & Horror Film Festival. Lovecraft lived in and wrote about Providence — including locations like Prospect Terrace, the First Baptist Church, and the Benefit Street houses — and he is the city’s best known science fiction author. The ticket also includes access to curated virtual screening of films inspired by Lovecraft. The tour runs once per day during two weekends, October 16-17 and 23-24.

Pumpkin Path 2021 – South Kingstown RI

Explore a path lined with pumpkins that have been carved by members of the community. All are invited to participate and drop off a pumpkin on Monday, October 18th, to be displayed on the Pumpkin Path on the 23rd. The South Kingstown Rec Center is also providing pumpkins and decoration supplies. See website for details. Costumes are encouraged and be sure to bring a flashlight.

Halloween at the Castle – Providence RI

Barnaby Castle’s annual Halloween celebration returns! This year, all tickets are VIP and include access to valet parking, open bars, yummy local food, spooky surprises and more. Explore all three floors of the gorgeous mansion and receive a complimentary Tarot or palm reading at the top of the turret. Costumes encouraged, and those who are best-dressed might win a costume contest trophy! All attendees must show proof of vaccination and results of a negative COVID test taken within 72 hours of the event.

The Breakers, Marble House, and The Elms will be lavishly decorated this holiday season. Guests are welcome to explore the mansions as they are transformed into a winter wonderland, complete with Christmas trees, wreaths, fresh flowers and poinsettias (including a poinsettia tree located at The Breakers). The Breakers also features Sparkling Lights at The Breakers, in which guests can explore an outdoor landscape illuminated with lights and decorations, though a separate ticket is required. Closed Thanksgiving Day and Christmas Day.

Newport Illuminated Boat Parade 2021 – Newport RI

Celebrate the upcoming holidays during this “display of nautical holiday spirit” at the Newport Waterfront. Community members register their boats in advance and then go all-out with the festive decorations: lights, poinsettias, wreaths, Santas, and more. The parade will take place from Perrotti Park, and Bowen’s & Bannister’s Wharves.

She was also one of Time’s Most Influential People of 2020. Tickets go on sale on October 22nd at 10 a.m.
