Relay For Life of Greater Providence

The American Cancer Society's Relay For Life of Greater Providence returns in 2026, bringing the community together to celebrate cancer survivors, remember loved ones lost, and fundraise in the fight against cancer. Teams walk or run in shifts, honoring caregiver and survivors, and participate in a Luminaria Ceremony that lights the night. The event is free and open to all - attendees can register to fundraiser or simply join in the celebration!

Blithewold Homeschool Days

Jan 27, 2026 - May 26, 2026 101 Ferry Road Bristol, RI 02809

Join us on the last Tuesday of each month, March through May, for hands-on, fun, and educational programs at Blithewold! Each session explores science, history, and art through indoor and outdoor activities designed to spark curiosity and learning. Our curriculum aligns with RI, MA, and CT state standards, making it both engaging and educational.

Activities include:
Jan 27: Learning about Herbs & Botany Games
Feb 24: Butler & Maid Tour
Mar 31: Phenology – The timing of nature’s cycles
Apr 28: How to Measure & Calculate the Value of Trees
May 26: Letterboxing Workshop

Students drop off for the program (ages 8–13), with one adult chaperone required to remain on the property for security. Don’t forget to bring lunch, water, and weather-appropriate clothing—we spend lots of time outdoors! Adult chaperones and younger siblings are welcome to picnic on the Grounds during lunch.

Between lessons, there’s time to explore the Great Lawn, run around, or enjoy a relaxing picnic, making each session a full day of learning and fun!

Blithewold Homeschool Days

Bring curious kids ages 8–13 for a fun, hands-on learning experience at Blithewold! This monthly drop-off program blends science, history, art, horticulture, environmental science, and climate change through engaging indoor and outdoor activities. Lessons align with RI, MA, and CT state standards, making it a perfect mix of learning and exploration.

Participants will enjoy time outdoors on the Great Lawn, with space for picnics and play between sessions.

Program Details:
  • 👧 Ages: 8–13 (drop-off program)
  • 👨‍👩‍👧 Adult chaperone must remain on the property for security
  • 📍 Check-in: Visitor Center (one adult chaperone required to stay on-site until pickup)
  • 🥪 Bring lunch & refillable water bottle
  • 🌤️ Dress for the weather (outdoor activities are part of the program)
  • 🧺 Adult chaperones and younger siblings are welcome to picnic on the grounds
  • 🕦 Lunch break: 11:30 AM – 12:00 PM

Newport Oyster & Chowder Festival

Celebrating its 10th anniversary of the Boots on the Ground Memorial, this tradition is a powerful tribute to those who have made the ultimate sacrifice in defending our freedoms in the Global War on Terror. The 5K Run/Walk gives all the chance to move with purpose, reflect, and show gratitude for those who gave all. This race proudly supports the Fort Adams Trust and the Boys and Girls Club of Newport County.

Newport 10 Miler

The 13th annual 10 Miler, benefiting the Fort Adams Trust and the Boys and Girls Club of Newport County returns. The course prominently features Newport’s scenic coastal views and ends with a truly unique finish as participants enter Fort Adams through the north gate and finish on the parade field. The Newport 10 Miler is one of the most scenic road races in the country, highlighting the best that The City by the Sea has to offer. See website for more details on registration!
