This recent (2011) extension of Boston’s “T” (the Massachusetts Bay Transportation Authority) commuter trains offers train service from TF Green Airport in Providence / Warwick, Rhode Island, to Boston, with stops between. Stops are TF Green Airport and Providence, Rhode Island. In Massachusetts, stops are South Attleboro, Attleboro, Mansfield, Sharon, Stoughton, Canton Center, Canton Junction, Route 128, Hyde Park, Ruggles, Back Bay in Boston, South Station in Boston.

The Northeast Regional offers downtown-to-downtown service along the Northeast Corridor from Boston to Newport News, VA, with many departures every day. Car service is available from Kingston, RI, to Newport, RI. Seasonal ferry service to Martha’s Vineyard is available from Kingston. Duration of full trip is 12 hours.
Acela Express offers fast service from Boston to Washington. Hourly service downtown to downtown during peak morning and afternoon rush hours between New York and Washington, D.C., and intermediate cities. Length of full trip is 7 hours.
