Rhode Island is a pet friendly place, and so are its hotels and motels. At many lodgings, visitors are welcome to bring the family dog, and some hotels, inns, and resorts offer dog friendly amenities like dog food, dog beds, and plenty of outdoor green space for daily walks and outdoor games of fetch. Some lodgings also can provide maps and directions for dog friendly walks. Check ahead for special fees or animal size restrictions.

At the Ocean House, they know your dog is part of your family. That’s why they started the Pooch Program, to make your pet’s stay, like yours, comfortable and enjoyable. Well-mannered dogs 50 pounds and under will be welcomed with treats and a toy and have the use of a designer dog bed and dog bowls. The concierge will provide up-to-date information on pet walk areas. Leashed dogs are allowed on the private beach before 8 a.m. and after 6 p.m., with expanded hours October through May. And, with a reservation and an added fee, dog sitters and walkers can be made available. There is a limit of two dogs per room, up to 50 pounds total.
