The small and fairly flat state of Rhode Island is not a skier’s mecca, but everyone should know about the small, dynamic, and family-friendly Yawgoo Valley Ski Area and Water Park in Exeter. The ski area has 36 acres of skiable terrain served with 12 trails served the two chair lifts and one rope tow. The longest trail is 2,200 feet. Vertical height of the mountain is 245 feet. Trails are groomed daily and lighted for night skiing. Big hill for snow tubing, with option of buy tickets online in advance. Lessons are offered, and an annual 5-week learn to ski or snowboard program is offered in January. The ski are has a pro doing teaching, a rental shop doing tune-ups and repairs, and a pro shop. The Cafeteria and The Max Restaurant & Lounge keep skiers well fed. Cross-country skiing and snowshoeing are not offered.
