New England Collegiate Baseball League and professional leagues
offer summertime baseball action in Rhode Island

The New England Collegiate Baseball League is summer college baseball at its best. Seeing a college baseball game is an evening of great summertime fun for children and families during a New England vacation. The league, consisting of 12 teams in the six New England states, starts its summer season in early June and plays an eight-week schedule of 42 games per team. The league championship is determined by a playoff in early August.

Games are broadcast via Teamline. Fans can view the live video webcast of an entire game via the Internet for $15; listen to to live audio webcast of the games for fee; or listen to a live play-by-play from any telephone for $5 per game. Games start at 7 p.m. unless otherwise indicated. Other game starting times may be 1, 3, 5, 6, 6:30, and 6:35 p.m. Consult team schedules are team websites.

Rhode Island’s professional minor leagues include the Pawtucket Red Sox, a AAA affiliate of the Boston Red Sox, based in Pawtucket.

Seeing a PawSox game at McCoy Stadium is easy, inexpensive, and close to the action. Among the special events planned at McCoy for the 2008 season include opening night celebration honoring local police and fire departments on April 4 along with a gift of a mini-bat for the first 3,000 young fans; gift of a World Series pennant on April 6 for the first 4,000 young fans; a free run around the bases after every Sunday afternoon home game; display of World Series trophies on April 6; post-game fireworks on April 19, May 25, July 2-5, and August 31; gift of a photo ball to the first 4,000 young fans on May 10; gift of a regulation PawSox Baseball Bat to the first 4,000 young fans on June 13; gift of a World Series Commemorative Baseball to young fans on June 19; gift of a PawSox Team Poster and a pre-game autograph sessionon August 13; and much more.

Directions: From North, take I-95 South to Exit 9. Go south for 10 miles. Take right at sign for "RI-138 East to Jamestown/Newport Bridges." From South, take I-95 North to Exit 5. Take Route 102 South for 8.8 miles. Turn right onto Route 4 for 3.3 miles to "RI-138 East to Jamestown/Newport Bridges." Both directions now travel east on Route 138 over two bridges. Take first exit after Newport Bridge. Go right for 0.2 mile. Take right after cemetery onto America's Cup Avenue. Field is 0.3 mile on left.
