Food Events in Rhode Island
Star Chefs Series -- Providence Now through July 13, 2009 Top chefs from all over the country will cook at these once-a-month dinner at Gracie’s, a Providence restaurant. The guest chef and Chef Joe will design a five-course menu paired with wine. Each menu will be a collaboration of the two chefs. The format for The Star Chefs series will be intimate; as they cook, both chefs will move in and out of the dining room to talk to guests about the meal. Location: Gracie's, 194 Washington Street. Secret Ingredient Food and Beverage Tour -- Pawtucket, Cumberland, Central Falls, Woonsocket, Smithfield, Lincoln, Burrillville, Chepachet Now through October 7, 2009 The Blackstone Valley of Rhode Island, known as the birthplace of the American Industrial Revolution, has many layers of ethnic culture brought by the French-Canadian, Irish, Portuguese, Cape Verdean, and Asian people who have lived and worked there. Now, the Blackstone tourism people have organized a Secret Ingredient Food and Beverage Tour, where visitors can taste and see the preparation of foods from many cultures that have made their way to the Blackstone. Cuisines from Colombian to Cape Verdean to Chinese are featured on the tour each Wednesday from June 3 to October 7. Each dining event includes a cooking demonstration and a meal or tasting. Rhode Island World of Flavors -- Providence July 12, 2009 A kickoff to Providence Restaurant Week, The World of Flavors Competition will showcase a broad cross-section of 40 Rhode Island restaurants as they compete for the top prize in their world region: Americana, Latin American, Mediterranean, European and Asian.
