Newport Folk Festival

2026 Newport Folk Festival is back at Fort Adams from July 24 - July 26, 2026. The Newport Folk Festival, founded by George Wein in 1959, takes place on the grounds at Fort Adams State Park and features four stages of world class musicians, food, vendors and a number of exhibits. Fort Adams is located at 90 Fort Adams Drive, Newport, RI. One of the park system’s national treasures, Fort Adams is situated at the mouth of Newport Harbor with panoramic views of the Newport Bridge and the East Passage. The festival runs rain or shine. Ticket sales begin Wednesday, February 4th at 1:00 PM EST through DICE website or app.

Newport Beer Run

The Newport Beer Run — formerly the Craft Brew Races — returns on Saturday July 18, 2026 at Fort Adams State Park for its 10th annual event! Join us for a fun, timed 5K road race and an unforgettable craft beer festival inside the walls of Fort Adams. We’ve got some great local and national beers on tap to greet you at the finish line! Or, skip the run and head straight for the festival with a festival-only ticket. Ticket Type 5k & Beer Fest: $55-$65 5k & Designated Driver: $50-$60 Festival Only: $50-$60 Designated Driver $20 Onsite registration and tickets are available day of at +$10 from the online cost. With Playing Dead (Grateful Dead Tribute Band)

We're Grateful for Nature! Join Audubon and Playing Dead for an evening of dancing, drinks, and fun—all to support Audubon's conservation efforts. Playing Dead is a tribute to the spirit and sound of the Grateful Dead and have been performing across New England for over 20 years! 
 
Pivotal Brewing will be serving craft beers, and food trucks will be on-site. Make your own tie-dye shirts, meet a real terrapin at Audubon’s Terrapin Station, and enjoy up-close encounters with Audubon’s Avian Ambassadors. With plenty of opportunities to give back, come dance the night away and help protect our natural world!

Wednesday Morning Bird Walks with Audubon

Audubon offers small-group Wednesday Morning Bird Walks with naturalist Laura Carberry. Each week a new birding destination will be chosen. Advance registration is required. Location will be sent to registered participants in advance.

Proper Pruning with Arborist Paul Fletcher

Hone your pruning skills with board-certified master arborist Paul Fletcher. Following a 45-year career in arboriculture, Paul now volunteers his time to care for Blithewold’s vast array of shrubs and trees in the living collections, managing their care and promoting improved growth and aesthetics. This small-group, outdoor format allows participants to experience seasonal and species-specific best-pruning practices. Attendees will learn to identify pruning needs and goals while safely making proper cuts with the correct tools. Our goal is to increase your confidence in undertaking small pruning projects on your own landscape. Registration is required. Each class is limited to 10 people.
